Our client, BentallGreenOak (formerly Bentall Kennedy) needed to renovate its boiler room and decided to make it a structural project. KROME developed a large-scale project to reduce the building’s carbon footprint and reduce energy bills. All systems were redesigned. KROME replaced all drains and installed heat recovery on them. Exterior heat pumps were installed to produce domestic hot water. An indoor heat pump was also installed to recover all the heat inside the building and inject it into domestic hot water and heating systems. The project won the “Energy Performance Improvement” Award in the “Multi-Unit Residential Buildings” category at the 2021 Building Energy Challenge presented by BOMA Québec.
