Private college Séminaire Saint-François faced a major asset retention challenge in its boiler room in 2019. KROME turned this asset retention project into an investment. First, the boiler room was renovated with a focus on energy savings. Le Collège désirait aussi offrir de la climatisation dans ses classes situées dans l’aile historique du collège. Krome took the opportunity to install heat pumps in the classrooms as well as in the three existing gymnasiums. By doing so, the heating generated by natural gas from the boiler room was reduced by 75%. Krome also suggested combining the electrical inputs to the middle school, arena and soccer center to save on the electric bill.

This 170,000 sq. ft. heritage building in downtown Montreal is occupied by office space for lease. The original plan was to replace the steam boilers, but Krome chose instead to replace the aging chillers with new high efficiency heat pumps to recover the building’s internal heat.
