The Quartier QB neighborhood complex was built in 2017. After a winter of operation, managers immediately noticed that energy bills were far too high. Although it was new construction, we agreed to modify the systems to reduce their consumption and to recover heat from the exhausts to heat the fresh air supply. We also recovered heat from the grocery store compressors to heat the underground garage.

Chemistry pavilions D1 and D2 primarily house laboratories, offices and miscellaneous rooms. The goal of the project was to implement heat recovery in the exhaust of the laboratory fume hoods by replacing approximately 60 extractors with a new common network of only a few variable speed exhaust fans.
